Languages

The study of languages is very important at Alia College. We believe that the study of language is a vital tool in the development of many skills, and promotes cognitive development.
In today’s world, which is inevitably getting smaller and smaller, the ability to speak and communicate in someone else’s mother tongue gives one an edge that modern gadgets and technologies cannot. Speaking another language also opens up life experiences that simply are not available to the monolingual.
Alia College students study Latin and either Japanese or French from Year 7 to Year 9. All these languages are offered in Year 10 and VCE, and students are encouraged to pursue their language learning through cultural and student exchange programs.
