Today is International Women’s Day, a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The first International Women’s Day was celebrated in 1911!
At Alia College this year, we marked International Women’s Day by joining in the 2019 theme of #BalanceforBetter: call-to-action for driving gender balance across the world. We generated some discussions in homeroom, classes, whole-school, and staff meetings around the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women, and to call or action on accelerating gender parity.
At lunchtime, students and staff used the International Women’s Day selfie cards to look ahead at what they could do to #BalanceforBetter.
