When did you start working Alia?

Tell us about something interesting you did in class this year?

We did many interesting things actually! We studied the Trojan war and the adventures of Aeneas, we delved into the world of magic in the Roman society and learned about the myth of Cupid and Psyche… we also studied the Roman schooling system, the life of soldiers, the structure of Roman houses… and so much more!

What do you enjoy about teaching your subjects?

I love ancient history and literature in general and it is wonderful when I can work with people who share the same passions as mine! Also, learning Latin is incredibly useful in terms of enriching your vocabulary and strengthening the knowledge of your native language too.

What do you like about working at Alia?

Seeing how my students are interested in and enthusiastic about Roman daily life and culture. We watched many videos and learned an incredible amount of information about Roman history and students are always keen to know more. Also, they enjoy translating texts and playing grammar games!

What do you get up to with your time outside school?

I love reading and learning foreign languages. I also like playing football – proper football, not Footy 🙂 – and travelling.

What else do you have to say for yourself?

I think that everyone should take up a course in Latin at least once in life. It benefits you (and your brain) in so many ways and offers you a privileged perspective from which you can explore ancient values and beliefs.
